Hopper had settled in Greenwich Village ¡ú base for the rest of his life
1923 friendship with Jo Nivison (¡úthey married in the following years)
1924 second solo show at the Rehn Gallery in N. Y. (sell-out2)
1933 given a retrospective3 exhibition at the Museum Of Modern Art
1950 retrospective show at the Whitney
view years later Hopper offten felt blocked and unable to paint
died in 1967, isolated if not forgotten
He painted: hotel, motels, trains, highways, restaurants, theatres, cinemas
