The creation of a reservation in California was demanded in 1862. In 1864 president Lincoln signed a law. 1890 the reservation turned into a national-park.
The Yosemite National-Park is the most famous and most popular national-park of California . He is a mountain-park in the middle of the Sierra Nevada. In the Yosemite Valley there are over 1000 meters high granite-walls. Up to 740 meters high waterfalls fall into the depth. Between the domed mountains are many flowery mountain-meadows.
Groups of very old redwoods stand at the south- and west-entrance to the park. Many paths lead over 1200 kilometers through needle-forests, valleys, along from torrents, over meadows to small lakes, on mountain-backs and to look-outs. You can make several days' tour to horse. It's an unforgettable experience. Many people visit the park in the summer. At the spring - and autumn-weekends there are many visitors from the cities San Francisco and Los Angeles. Very attractively in the winter is the snow-covered Yosemite Valley.
