The Trail of Tears: In 1830 the Congress of the United States passed the \"Indian Removal Act.\" President Jackson quickly signed the bill into law. In one of tthe saddest episodes of our brief history, men, women, and children were taken from their land, herded into makeshift forts with minimal facilities and food, then forced to march a thousand miles(Some made part of the trip by boat in equally horrible conditions). About 4000 Cherokee died as a result of the removal. The route they traversed and the journey itself became known as \"The Trail of Tears\" or, as a direct translation from Cherokee, \"The Trail Where They Cried\" (\"Nunna daul Tsuny\"). The Boston Tea Party: In 1773, Britain\'s East India Company was sitting on large stocks of tea that it could not sell in England.

It was on the verge of bankruptcy. In an effort to save it, the government passed the Tea Act of 1773, which gave the company the right to export the tea directly to the colonies without paying any of the regular taxes. The Tea Act revived American passions about the issue of taxation without representation. The colonists responded by boycotting tea. Various colonies made plans to prevent the East India Company from landing its cargoes in colonial ports. After failing to turn back the three ships in the harbor of Boston, local patriots led by Samuel Adams staged a spectacular drama.

On the evening of December 16, 1773, three companies of fifty men each, masquerading as Mohawk Indians, passed through a tremendous crowd of spectators, went aboard the three ships, broke open the tea chests, and heaved them into the harbor. As the electrifying news of the Boston \"tea party\" spread, other seaports followed the example and staged similar acts of resistance of their own.\' The Grand Canyon: After thousands of years of Native American presence in the American Southwest, the first Europeans arrived at the Grand Canyon\'s South Rim in 1540. By the late 1800s, the spectacular beauty of the Canyon began to draw both visitors and businessmen alike. The Grand Canyon became a national monument in 1908 and on February 26, 1919, it was designated as the seventeenth national park. It became a major tourist attraction and the Santa Fe Railroad was built to run a line from Williams, Arizona to this natural wonder.

Today, five-million people a year visit the Grand Canyon. Washington: Washington is a north-western state of the U.S.A. on the border to Canada, but Washington D.C.

    C. . It is a city of administration with a wide range of services, two airport, five universities and many other cultural, public and social facilities. Hollywood: Hollywood is a district of Los Angeles in California, a U.S. state on the west coast.
