The main characters:
Robin Randall: he's 14 years old and lives in the Conurb until his father died
Mike Gifford: he's 14 years old too and lives in the County
The other characters:
Jack Randall: Rob's father and a revolutionary, works as an electrician
Mr. Keannealy: a friend of Rob's father and a revolutionary too
Cecily, Mr. and Mrs Gifford: Mike's family
Sir Percy Gregory: Governor of the County and one of the Guardians
Daniel and Roger Penfold: members of the revolution organization
Guardians: control the manipulated mankind and fight against riots
The plot: - Rob's parents are dead, first he lived with his parents but he had to go to a
boarding School
- he escapes in direction to the County to find out were his mother lived in former
times
- He meets Mike there and his parents admit Rob
- He finds out that the people get manipulated by the Guardians
- A few inhabitants, Mike and school friends of Rob want to start a riot against the
Guardians but it fails
- The revolutionaries are searched. They are to undergo a brain washing
- Mike visits Rob at night and escapes into the Conurb
- Rob is brought to Old Hall to Sir Percy Gregory and he has to say what he knows
about Mike and the other revolutionaries
- Rob goes back to the Conurb to Mike to fight against the Guardians just like his
father did
