Seaworld was officially opened in 1986. At that time the parkway consisted of 65 hectares in total. However the park has expanded over the years and today measures 80 hectares. The Park is opened throughout the day and only the business hours vary from time to time. For a single day an adult pays 89 whereas children ages 3 through to 9 years old would pay 80 USD. Annually, over 75 million people from all over the world visit the park.
2 Approximately 4000 Men and Women are employed in Seaworld, these include animal keepers, coaches, vet doctors, cleaners, security guards, vendors and artists. There are over 20'000 animals, of different species, living here. These include: sea turtles, killer whales, dolphins, prick skates, sharks, sea anemone, seals, polar bears, sea cows, sea urchins and starfishes. They all live in artificial environment that matches their specific needs. 3 Seaworld differs from other zoos or aquaria, because the visitors can not only watch at these exhibited animals, but they can also touch and get very close to them. Within the different aquaria it is possible to swim with dolphins, watch the sharks face to face or simply snorkel with the occupants through their reefs.
In Seaworld there are also many shows where dolphins, whales, seals and sea cows present their prepared tricks together with their coaches. But not only animal action takes place. In 2002, the biggest rollercoster within Orlando, the so-called octopus was opened. It is 1273 meters in length and 46 meters heigh. The maximum speed is 105 km/hour.
