In the USA more and more people are educated at home. About 1.9 million people in the USA get home schooling and in the UK it becomes more popular each year. It's a method which you have to take into cosideration.
But there are positiv and negativ aspects about home schooling.
For example bullying is such a problem at school, so it's a positiv aspect. Other aspects for education at home are that the family can be very flexible about the schedules and the holidays, the children have more free time because they don't have to go a long way to school and they needn't get up so early in the morning. They can follow their personal rythm and have a nice and quiet learning atmosphare.
Aspects against home schooling are that there isn't given the chance to get a good start in life for kids from difficult backgrounds and that school protects children from their families prejudices. At home you can't do any partner- or teamwork although the competition and to exchanche your ideas with others is important. Apects against home schooling are also that the classmates'ideas can encourage you and that learning with others can be funny. Finally, who knows that the children get a good education at home?
There are also arguments for and against home schooling. For example the family can spend more time together and the children don't spend a lot of time with others. On the one hand it's good but on the other hand- when you see your family all and every day and nobody else it can nerv. Parents should be able to decide what their children learn is an other argument for both sites, because parents couldn't be able to teach as much as the teachers at school.
You see, there are lots of arguments for and against home schooling. My opinion is that I never want to do this, because it would be really boring-staying at home all the time and don't have freinds. And at school you lern how to get on with other people. But I also think that home education is good for children who live in the mountains, far away from a school, because they have the same conclusion and needn't go to school.
