In November 30, 1874 Lady Randolph Churchill, née Jennie Jerome and her husband Lord Randolph Churchill (chancellor of the Exchequer) visited Blenheim. Suddenly, Lady Randolph Churchill had gone into labour and Winston Spencer Churchill was born - two month premature. But Winston didnīt born in a hospital, he borned in a little cloakroom behind the mainentrance.
For family-life was no time. "A child get to know his parents as an adault". When Winston was one year old a nanny looked after him. Her name was Mrs. Everest. He had a close relationship to her.
At the age of seven he attended the St. James-School in Ascot. He didnīt learn anything, again and again he was beaten by his teachers, but Winston still didnīt learn. He began to stutter and spoke with a slight lisp. His parents didnīt notice that. His healthy broke down and so his parents told him to attend another school.
The school was in Brighton, nevertheless, after all Winston didnīt learn. He was a bad student, and mathematics and latin werenīt his favourite subjects. But in Englisch he was superb. Nobody was a better student - but only in English.
After his schooltime his father said, that he had no choice but to go to the military. But how could it be, Winston failed the entrance examination in Sandhurst. After the third time he passed the examination and came to the cavalry.
